Share personal memories with new 'My Memories' app feature
Has your life been touched by dementia? The House of Memories team has just released a brand new ‘My Memories’ feature as part of the My House of Memories app, which enables users to upload their own photographs and add memories.
‘My Memories’ is really easy to use. Simply upload a selection of your favourite photographs, and a photo display can be played back with a choice of accompanying music, courtesy of Liverpool Philharmonic.
There’s music to suit every mood; from gentle and soothing; light and playful to lively and energetic. Enjoy the magic of ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ from The Nutracker’, while reminiscing over family photos or memories of your favourite holiday. The photo display can take the form of a book with digital pages that turn, a carousel of images, or a series of photo tiles which ‘flip’ and change.
You can create lots of different displays on different themes or eras and save them in a person’s profile. The pictures are stored within your own tablet or iPhone, so there is no worry of other people seeing the images.
The ‘My Memories’ feature has been created in response to requests from people living with dementia, their family carers and health care workers.
The award-winning My House of Memories app is free to download, where you can explore objects from the 1920s – 1980s to stimulate memory and conversation and create virtual memory trees, boxes and timelines. The app is available on iOS and Android devices.
We’re continuing to develop new app packages to cover a wide variety of themes, and you can sign up to the House of Memories e-newsletter to get the latest updates.
